Category: Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing / Hiking, Winter Camping

Thu - SunFeb 20 - Feb 232020
  • Estimated Cost: $50
  • Max Trip Size: 6 people
Description:

We will head out early from the twin cities on Thursday and drive up to the Ely side of the BWCA. We will  be starting at the boat landing on Moose Lake just south of the Boy Scout camp. We will pull our gear on sleds with snowshoes or skis 4.7 miles in to Wind Bay on Basswood Lake. We will spend four nights camping and doing day trips to various locations around the area. Depending on snow depth, we may need to stop sooner and camp on Wind Lake. You will need prior experience camping in cold weather to attend this trip. It is possible to get temperatures as low at -40 degrees Fahrenheit. You will need to have a system of layered insulated clothing. Call me if you have any questions.

You will be responsible for your own clothing and gear. We may share tents and stoves as required.

Coordinator(s):
Pat E.
