Let’s hike a bunch of the Voyageur Trek Trail at Lebanon Hills Sunday starting at Noon Sharp, leaving from the Holland Lake trail head parking lot. We’ll head from the parking lot out to the Northern part, then circle around while passing O’Brian Lake, Cattail Pond, Lily Pond, Bridge Pond, Beaver Pond, and possibly more, while we probably avoid all the cross-country ski trails, possibly inhabited by skiers or maybe ice skaters. This hike should be around 4+ miles.
It is most extremely recommended you have shoe grippers or such on your hiking shoes. From a test hike today (12/24), it seems the trail is about 95% hard-packed snow or just plain and lumpy ice (on one uphill stretch an image came to me of my days as an ice climber) All this looks to be covered by a bit or more of new snowfall. That said, we’ll plan on a 2.5 – 3 mph pace, with emphasis as usual on enjoying the quiet, the solitude of our “Wilderness in the City”. So dress warm, consider bringing water, and get there on time.
All dogs on leashes are welcome (I saw many today). Please text or email me if you’re planning to come, whether you’re a member or not. IN ADDITION, if you’re not a Rover, please sign the release below.
