Camping and conducting a survey for dragonflies and damselflies at Kilen Woods State Park in southwest Minnesota, in coordination with the Minnesota Dragonfly Society. The survey will result with a list of dragonflies and damselflies for the Park as well as add to our knowledge of those species.
The reason Kilen Woods State Park was chosen for the survey is because it is located in one of the most under-surveyed counties in the State. Currently, only 9 species are recorded for that county, yet, when all surrounding counties are considered, 66 species are recorded for the general area. So, the likelihood of finding new species for the County is high and there is also the possibility of finding new species to the State list.
This is a family friendly trip.

Food is on your own.
Reservations for campsites will be on your own; there is no group campsite. However, I received permission to have two tents at each campsite; current regulations state only one tent is permitted for each campsite. Coordination for sharing campsites will reduce costs. Try to obtain campsites in loop A. Suggested best sites from best to less best are sites 10, 11, 8, 9, 12, 13, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. If loop B is used, the best sites are 14, 16 and 15.
