Visit this Western MN State Park to make your own snowshoes, ski 5 miles of trails pending snow, and stay in a heated camper cabin.
As workshop participants, you’ll learn how to string the laces on your very own prebuilt wooden snowshoe frames (pointed end Ojibwe-style) and how to use them. Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. $75 registration fee includes the snowshoe kit and materials. Bindings are not included in the kit, but park staff will explain how people can make their own rubber bindings.
After the workshop, there’ll be a little time to ski and explore before nightfall, when we can play games and have a roaring fire outdoors. Meals on your own. Bring bag lunch for the workshop. Potlucks both nights if everyone wants.
Camper cabins are heated single rooms with bunks (coed) and a dining table but no cooking inside. You will register for the workshop on your own. As of 12/18, there’s only 5 spots left in the workshop, so let me know soon.
Estimated cost: $30 + $75 Workshop Fee. Deposit: $25. Max trip size: 6.
