Description:

Come on a wonderful trip to the remote Ontario wilderness, where there’s no cell signal, and the blueberries should be in season. This will be a 6-8 day long canoe camping trip, but the exact route and length of the trip will be determined before applying for our permit in February. Planned entry is through Prairie Portage, starting at Mouse lake entry. We will be changing camp daily, unless we schedule a layover day.

You will be responsible for getting your own Remote Area Border Crossing permit (RABC) before the trip. Information and a download of the form is available here: https://cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/canpass/rabc-pfre/menu-eng.html

While a passport is not required, it does make getting the permit, and going through both US and Canadian border offices easier.

This is NOT a beginner trip, so please be ready for the changing weather and terrain that is common in the BWCA and Quetico, 12+mi days, wet foot portaging, and portages up to 280rds (5/8mi) with up to 70lb packs. Also the Quetico does not have designated latrines in the campsite, so be ready to dig cat holes as needed. Be ready to share a tent and bring minimal gear, so that we can keep the number of packs down to prevent double portaging.
