Join me for an evening hike around Pike Island at Fort Snelling State Park!
We will begin the hike at 7pm so allow time for parking. The park does require a State Park pass, if needed, day passes can be purchased on site for $7. Well behaved dogs, on 6 foot or less leashes, are allowed. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after them immediately.
We will do a 3 mile loop around Pike Island. The trail is gravel and relatively flat, but be prepared for muddy, wet, possibly slippery conditions. I would also bring a headlamp. We will hike rain or shine.
Park and meet at the Visitor Center, which is at the end of the road in the park. Look for the short girl wearing a hiking pack – that’s me! I’m preparing for an upcoming hiking trip so I’m getting used to lugging around my pack. : )
Address: 101 Snelling Lake Road St. Paul, 55111
Directions: From Hwy 5 by the airport, take the Post Road exit and enter the park at the stone gate. Follow the main road approx. 2-3 miles. The road will end in the interpretive center parking lot.
Non-members are welcome to check out our club on any day trip, so bring a friend or two! (Just make sure to fill out the liability waiver.)
