- Max Trip Size: 10 people
As part of Spring Extravaganza we are we’ll do some Rock Climbing for 1st timers and novices.
We will get there around 9am to get things set up. You can come then to watch set up OR show up around 10am or even as late as mid-afternoon to get an opportunity to climb. We’ll wrap things up by 4ish to be back at camp in time for supper.
WHAT TO WEAR: clothes that allow full mobility and can get a little scuffed up and dirty. Also have some type of coat or jacket as it can be cool near the river. Rovers will provide all the climbing safety gear (harness, helmet & climbing shoes). Allow 30 minutes to get ‘fitted’ into gear.
WHAT TO BRING: you’ll want a full water bottle and, optionally, some ‘finger food’ to snack on while you’re waiting for your turn to climb while watching others climb. We’ll be climbing only about a city block from where we park our cars so leaving food & beverages in the car in a cooler is a good option.
WHERE TO MEET: park in the Taylors Falls lot that shares driveway with the Paddleboats (turn off Hwy 8 JUST before the bridge to Wisconsin). You’ll need to buy a MN park permit or daily parking pass. DO NOT TURN INTO THE INTERSTATE PARK CAMPING AREA – KEEP GOING TIL YOU SEE THE BRIDGE.
MOST IMPORTANT: have Rob’s cell# (651) 230-2277 and Lori’s (612) 965-5674 in your phone because you’ll need to call us once you’re parked so we can meet you for gear fitting and/or tell you exactly where we’re climbing (there are several different areas there and across the bridge in WI too).
IF YOU INTEND TO ATTEND PLEASE EMAIL ROB DIRECTLY AS SOON AS YOU CAN. I’ll need to ask some questions beforehand. You are NOT required to be attending the Extravaganza to take part in this event.
WE INTEND TO REPEAT THIS TRIP ON SUNDAY 5/15 starting after we eat breakfast and get packed up from Extravaganza.
