Come and join me to explore the many species of birds that utilize and breed at Nerstrand Big Woods State Park. If we are lucky, the red-headed woodpeckers will give us a good look at them. Warblers, flycatchers, woodpeckers, thrushes and vireos are common in the park, with 31 species of warblers and vireos having been recorded. Bring your binoculars and bird book (optional) and meet in the main parking lot promptly at 9 a.m. A daily or annual permit is required. We will hike to various locations and then stop and listen and observe the birds that are present, then move on to the next location. Total distance will be about 2-3 miles. Bring any water or snacks you might want. Please email me directly with questions and if you plan to come.
