Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area

Fri - SunJun 24 - Jun 262011
  • Estimated Cost: $10
  • Max Trip Size: 20 people
Description:

Abandoned by mining companies more than 30 years ago, this area of former mining pits and rock deposit stockpiles just north of Brainerd, MN now boasts regenerated vegetation and clear lakes that draw a wide range of recreation enthusiasts. Twenty-five miles of natural shoreline can be explored by boat or canoe and anglers can cast a line for trout (stocked lakes), northern, bass, crappie, or sunfish. I am planning to bring boat for fishing. There is fishing from the shore and dock as well.

Construction on 22 miles of single-track mountain bike trails, including beginner, intermediate and advanced routes, began spring of 2010 in the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area. A Grand Opening is planned in the Spring of 2011. Come be one of the first to ride this world class mountain biking course within the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area.

Bike, canoe and kayak rentals available local at Cycle Path Paddle. There is also swimming and this is a very popular ing destination because of the clear lakes. There are trails for road biking as well . As you can see, there is plenty to do. So come join us for a fun weekend. E-mail me to reserve your spot. Must be a member for this overnight trip. Cost: $10 for 2 nights or $5 for 1 night. I will have burners for cooking, but you will need to take care of your own food. Carpooling is encouraged. Max trip size: 20 (group site). Five spots will be reserved for new Rovers. There are also 17 non-reservation sites if this trip fills up and you still would like to go, but space would not be guaranteed. Estimated cost: $10.00. Deposit: $0. Max trip size: 20.
