Description:

Tentative itinerary:

  • Sat: Meet for Breakfast at the Chocolate Moose in Ely, get permit, and be on the water by 11:00. Entry Point: 30 Lake 1, paddle to southern end of Lake 3 near the Pow Wow Lake hiking trail
  • Sun: Layover day for fishing, hiking, swimming, hanging out, etc.
  • Mon: Move camp (possibly to Fire Lake), fish, swim, etc.
  • Tue: Layover or move camp again (possibly to Rifle Lake) fish, swim, etc. Wed: Paddle out and travel home. Area map

Cindy Anderson is leading the food planning so we should eat well. Participants should be strong enough to paddle for 5 hours and portage a canoe. Campsites are often small so tent sharing will be necessary. We will navigate with map and compass. A packing list and instruction will be provided if desired. A planning meeting will be scheduled in late July. I plan to bring along my 2 year old Cocker Spaniel, Mojo.

Max group size: 7 people (3 tandem & 1 shared solo canoe) Estimated cost: $50 + Friday night lodging + gas + possible light weight canoe rental. Deposit: $50. Max trip size: 7.
