Whitewater State Park Camping along with the 1st Annual Parsnip Pull

Fri - SunJun 21 - Jun 232013
  • Estimated Cost: $5
Description:

Spend a weekend at one of Minnesota’s best parks. Also participate in the 1st Annual Parsnip Pull. The event will pull wild parsnip from campsites and trails in the park. Wild parsnip is a noxious weed that can cause severe blisters, discolored skin and sensitivity to light. It is common all over Whitewater.

The 1st Annual Parsnip Pull is designed to start the process of removing this noxious weed from areas where people will come in contact with it. The 1st Annual Parsnip Pull will start at 9AM on Saturday. With a break for lunch, it will end at 4PM. Please remember however that this is a Volunteer event. You can work as much or as little as you like. Even an hour’s work is 1 hour more than what would otherwise get done. A potluck supper for participants will happen that evening. Parsnip dishes are encouraged.

I have reserved at group campsite at Carley State Park (all the Whitewater ones were booked).Carley is just 10 miles away. If you plan to stay overnight and want to stay at the group camp let me know. There is room for 25 people in the camp. Or if you want you can get a campsite at Whitewater.

You will also need to register for the 1st Annual Parsnip Pull event by sending an email to [email protected] or call 507-932-3007 ex. 226

Please note that I am looking for someone to help coordinate this event for Rovers. I will be extremely busy during the parsnip pull event since I am the organizer of the event. Please let me know if you are willing to pick this up.

Estimated cost: $5 two nights camping plus food. Deposit: $0. Max trip size: Unlimited.

Please contact me if you are coming.
