Trip Description

Cross-Country Ski and/or snowshoe - WI Chippewa Moraine Area and Blue Hills
Friday Feb 16th - Sunday Feb. 18th
12 maximum
Trip cost- deposit of $35
The $35 deposit covers the food that I provide for breakfasts, the main course for the meal on Saturday plus the septic tank emptying and expenses. I don’t cover costs for on-your-own stuff like Friday dinner, gas, etc.

Bring a sleeping bag.
Arriving on Friday at 6:00 pm at Main Street Cafe in downtown Bloomer, WI (dinner on your own)
Hwy 53 exit for Bloomer WI, approximately 2 hours from Bloomington, MN. After dinner, we leave for my cabin near New Auburn WI. For those that arrive later, detailed instructions can be given to find the lake house.

Saturday, cross-country skiing at the Blue Hills, a little known Shangri-La about 30 minutes from the cabin, close to Bruce WI. There is downhill skiing also at the Christie Mountain ski area which is nearby.
Otherwise you can stay at the cabin to relax, or to snowshoe at the Chippewa Ice Age Interpretive Center.

Saturday night dinner at the cabin will be a coordinated meal. Jim provides the main course of pasta. Others hopefully bring side dishes/dessert/drinks, etc. Breakfasts consist of oatmeal, milk, brown sugar and coffee as provided by Jim unless others want to contribute more such as juices, fruits. I don’t want to fix pancakes however to keep the mess to a minimum. Lunches are on your own.

Sunday –cross-country ski at Hickory Ridge. It is in the heart of the moraine area, with lots of little hills and lakes. You can also stay at the cabin to relax or snowshoe at the Chippewa Ice Age Interpretive Center which is about 5 miles from the cabin.

You can return to the cabin Sunday after activities to shower and eat or leave directly for the Twin Cities.
